Team Astro Mucho

Owner and founder of Astro Mucho, Devo fell in love with the night sky long before he picked up a laser pointer. In 2015, while working as a swamper on a Grand Canyon river trip, he was captivated by the guide with a green laser who pointed out stars and shared their stories each night. Inspired, he set out to learn the sky himself.

He’s been running rivers since 2002, and the Rio Grande eventually drew him south to Terlingua, where he’s called home since 2018. That same year, he began hosting astronomy programs for Road Scholars — until they canceled the series for being “too late at night.” From there, demand for private stargazing events began to grow, and the dream of offering star tours with the same spirit as river guiding was born.

Devo has led hundreds of star talks and is a passionate astro-communicator. His goal? That guests leave with a greater sense of how special Earth is in the cosmos and how unique humans are, hoping we take better care of both.

When he’s not looking up, Devo is digging down — serving as a volunteer archaeologist at Big Bend Ranch State Park — or producing theater as Program Director for Last Minute Low Budget Productions.

Zach is the lead photographer of Astro Mucho.  An artist his entire life, he got into photography while attending UTSA.  After moving to Terlingua in 2019, he became the the photographer for Terlingua's Cinnabar Theater for the performing arts.

Over twenty productions later, he's really good at shooting fast moving targets in low light conditions.  Applying those skills to the night sky came easily to Zach.

His passion lies in the artistic side, while his expertise is in form and function.  He lives off grid, built his house, and owns a tractor.

Zach's prints are available at every star tour and in the Astro Mucho office at Far Flung Outdoor Center.  

When he's not shooting the sky or swinging a hammer, Zach likes to ride motorcycles, go rock climbing, and play chess.

Jim is the resident astrophotographer for Astro Mucho.  Seldom seen after dark, he is a master of the Irish goodbye, getting home in time to capture the cosmos. 

He spends his summers in the cool air of Colorado, guiding his RV to dark skies.  His boy Blue is always by his side. 

His astrophography is absolutely stunning, and Astro Mucho is thrilled to offer his images to star tour guests and visitors of our shop at Far Flung! All the proceeds go to dog food.
